What to consider about Agios Georgios Pagon
The name of this coastal village is derived from the church of Agios Georgios located in the area (from the 13th century), supplemented by "Pagon", precisely because the settlement is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of "Pagoi".
IMPORTANT: Some of the tourists who arrive for the first time in the island of Corfu tend to confuse the resort of Agios Georgios Pagon located on the northwest coast of the island of Corfu with the resort of Agios Georgios Argyradon, which is located in the south.
The two are located 58 kilometers away from each other and are completely different in appearance. In addition, there is a third resort that can create confusion: Agios Gordios, located on the road between the two Agios Georgios resorts mentioned above 🙂
Returning to Agios Georgios Pagon, the place is distinguished by a relatively quiet atmosphere, less lively in the evening, generally suitable for families with children and couples. In the resort there are many accommodation options (most villas with apartments for rent), restaurants and taverns, water sports centers and boat rentals, bus station and, of course, the beach - considered the main attraction.
It has the advantage of being located in an area extremely rich in attractions, therefore, if you are among the most explorers, Agios Georgios Pagon will not give you the chance to get bored, because Paleokastritsa awaits you at a short distance, along with all its beaches and historical attractions, but also the village of Afionas and its famous Porto Timoni beach, considered one of the most beautiful on the island.

Families with children head towards the southern part of the beach, where the entrance to the sea is smoother.
The beach is also suitable for water sports practitioners. There are centers with equipment rentals, diving courses, parasailing, windsurfing and many others, and from here you can also take a boat to the famous Porto Timoni beach near the village of Afionas.
At the same time, from this beach departures are organized by sea to the Diapontia group of islands, but also to the less accessible beaches below Paleokastritsa.

The traditional village of Afionas, located only 6 kilometers away and located at an altitude of approximately 130 meters, can be one of the best examples of the typical architecture of the island of Corfu.
It is suitable for those who prefer to take romantic walks in the evening, with its narrow cobbled streets and taverns handed down from generation to generation.
The strip of land on which Afionas was built ends with a small isthmus that hosts the famous Porto Timoni beach. You can get here on foot, from the village (a relatively demanding walk of about 20 minutes) or by taking a boat from the beach of Agios Georgios Pagon.
The historical attractions of the Paleokastritsa area are also at acceptable distances. You can see the Paleokastritsa Monastery, but also the ruins of the Angelokastro Castle, both located in high areas, with a superb view.
In Paleokastritsa you will also find the Corfu Aquarium (ideal for families with children), a series of interesting caves dug into the rock, in the coastal area, and, last but not least, a string of wonderful beaches: Agios Spiridon (the main beach in Paleokastritsa) , Agios Petros, Agia Triada, Liapades beach, Limni Glyko beach (similar in appearance to Porto Timoni), Chomi beach (or Paradise - accessible only from the sea), Rovinia beach and others.
