Nudists Lead Nationwide Clothing Drive

Nudists Lead Nationwide Clothing Drive
Nudists' clothing drive volunteers and the donations they shared with shelters

Hi Travelers,

As we approach the season of giving, I wanted to share news of the following philanthropic event that just took place…

In a gesture-filled display of generosity, nudists across the U.S. and Canada came together to help those in need by literally giving the clothes off their backs. The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR.com) has successfully concluded its Nudists Give Clothing drive, a nationwide initiative that saw naturists lead the charge in donating clothing and essential goods to family shelters across North America.

Though naturists are known for living without clothing, participants from 23 states and provinces took this chance to support a greater cause.

“Everyone needs clothes. Even nudists, though we prefer to go without them whenever practical. But for a huge number of people, clothing is a basic necessity that they struggle to afford,” said Evan Nix, an AANR volunteer and spokesperson for the campaign. “The Nudists Give Clothing drive shows how much naturists care about others, turning what some might see as irony into meaningful action.”

Campaign Success by the Numbers
The Nudists Give Clothing drive saw an impressive total of 5,275 items donated by 46 participants from across North America. These donations included clothing, hygiene products, and non-perishable food, all of which made their way to 45 shelters and community programs across the U.S. and Canada. The supplies provided much-needed essentials, ensuring that families and individuals have access to vital items.

Naturists surpassed all expectations with some extraordinary contributions. Ray and Ginny Willis from Colorado led the way with an impressive 844 items donated, while Maryanne Rettig from Florida contributed 606 items. One especially unique contribution came from Jessie and Patrick, members of the Solair Recreation League in Connecticut, who asked their wedding guests to bring clothing donations instead of traditional gifts. Their thoughtful gesture added 228 items to the drive, further highlighting the naturist community’s commitment to giving back.

Challenging Misconceptions
According to AANR, this drive proved that naturism isn’t just about body freedom—it’s about giving back and supporting others. By donating clothing and essential goods, naturists demonstrated that their values extend far beyond personal expression and into active compassion for others.

This effort transformed what could be seen as irony into real compassion, leaving a lasting impact on both the community and those in need. As donations keep arriving at shelters, the drive has inspired discussions on how everyone can give back.

“We’re thrilled with the turnout and deeply grateful to everyone who participated,” says Nix. “This campaign is a testament to the naturist community’s compassion and dedication to helping others.”
