Well, everything is great until you get to packing. Can you already see yourself trying for the thousandth time to close your suitcase? Then you need some tips to pack without hassle, no matter the situation, the year, or any other context!
3 Tips for Efficient Travel Packing
- Make a List of Everything You Need - No matter how experienced you are at traveling, never start packing without making a checklist. This way, you'll be sure not to miss anything.
- Create a Capsule Wardrobe - How many times have you packed more clothes than you wore? The best approach is to think of a capsule wardrobe: one that contains pieces that can be easily mixed and matched. Pants, skirts, shoes, and jackets can be worn multiple times. Of course, adapt your wardrobe to the destination (there may be dress code restrictions), weather conditions, and the activities you have planned.
- Organize Your Space - You don't have to be an organizing expert like Marie Kondo. You just need to know where to look for information! YouTube has plenty of tutorials that will help you better organize your luggage space. Here are a few tips (the ones I usually apply):
- Roll your clothes: this way, you'll save more space;
- There are many types of space organizers available online: use them with confidence;
- Wear the bulkiest clothes on the plane/car;
- Use travel-size containers for cosmetics;
- If you plan to buy souvenirs, make sure to pack a foldable backpack in your suitcase (you can thank me when you return);
- Replace books with e-books – I know, it's not the same feeling, but make an exception at least to fit other things in your luggage. You don't even need to take an e-reader with you, as there are many phone apps that allow you to read these types of books without straining your eyes.
What Shouldn't Be Missing from Your Luggage?
By following these tips, you're sure to gain some space. But before closing your suitcase, don't forget to double-check if you've packed everything and don't forget:
- Phone charger + power bank for when you're on the go;
- Basic medications (pain relievers, stomach remedies, etc.);
- Personal care products (including nail clippers and a nail file);
- Documents (it would be good to keep them handy, in a bag/pouch).
In Conclusion
These are my tips. Travel packing doesn't have to be the chaos that precedes or ends a trip. We just need to learn to determine what is essential, what isn't, and, of course, a few tricks to save space. Regardless of the destination or the time of year, it should be the least of our worries!
Time never comes back! So why waste it getting frustrated over... a suitcase that won't close?
