Awesome Body Paint Art Events

Its how nudists "costume" for Halloween

Hi Travelers,

With Halloween just around the corner we’re seeing store shelves loading up with costumes. And the fun of “dressing up” at Halloween and for some festivals is not lost on nudists.  However, their costumes are fashioned somewhat differently than those worn by textiles, because they amp up the fun with body paint!

But it’s not just nudists who revel in body painting, there are events globally where free spirits are artistically attired in body paint.  Take for instance Fantasy Fest in Key West, Florida.  It’s held for 10 days, this year Oct. 18-27, and features parades, marches, contests, cabaret shows and of course opportunities to be a body art canvas.

And there are body art expos too. The World Body Painting Festival is happening now, Sept 17-21, in Austria.  They’ll be streaming live the Winners Ceremony on Sept 20th. For complete details visit https://bodypainting-festival.com/en.

Closer to home you can visit clubs and resorts affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation and find the dates on their respective calendars for Halloween Costume Parties where body painting reigns.  Visit: https://www.aanr.com/club-locator/.

Care to test your body painting skills out at home?  Here are a few tips…

  • Use a non-toxic water-based body paint made especially for painting on skin. (It won’t clog your pores and is easy to remove.) Make sure you have a drop cloth in place.
  • Test on a small patch of skin first if you have sensitive skin.
  • If you’re not confident with your free-form art skills, consider using a stencil or temporary tattoo to guide you along as you outline your drawing with a thin brush.
  • To fill in your design, use thicker brushes and sponges. It makes blending colors a breeze.
  • Give yourself plenty of time for the paint to completely dry before donning clothes or sitting/leaning against furniture and appliances.
  • To remove, follow instructions on the paint container.  This is usually done with simple soap and water or make up remover. Though your paint may require a specially formulated paint remover. So read the instructions before you apply paint.

Now go out and express your free spirit with some art therapy fun.  Happy Halloween!
